That's something new I came across.

First of all, glad to meet you.

I was born in India and in matters of what you explained, I would be defined as first generation learner as well.

I recognise your viewpoint because I respect the teachings of my parents, my grandparents and others.

My maternal grandparents were highly respected for being excellent teachers in schools.

They raised my mother well.

My father despite being from a formal institute has raised me with morals and ethics that I highly respect.

This is somewhat disturbing to label students like this, although I hope they have a higher agenda behind this, because it should make sense to sensitively label people.
